Henryk Wieniawski (1835–1880) was a renowned Polish violinist and composer, widely regarded as one of the greatest virtuosos of the 19th century. A child prodigy, he studied at the Paris Conservatory from age eight, graduating with top honors at eleven. He achieved early fame through extensive European tours and later served as violinist to the Russian tsar and professor in St. Petersburg. He also toured the United States with Anton Rubinstein and taught in Brussels. Celebrated for his expressive tone and flawless technique, Wieniawski composed Romantic works showcasing virtuosity, including two violin concertos and several enduring pieces for violin.
