This recording of Joseph Haydn keyboard trios by Trio Gaspard reinterprets a repertoire once shaped by the Beaux Arts Trio, spanning early and late works with renewed rhythmic vitality and improvisatory freedom. Performances of trios in F major No. 6, G minor No. 5, A major No. 22, and E major No. 44 emphasize contrast, ensemble interplay, expressive embellishment, and flexible repeats, highlighting Haydn’s chamber textures with lightness, lyricism, and dramatic shifts. The program concludes with Helena Winkelman’s Threesome in a High-den, a contemporary response weaving Haydn motifs and Beethoven references into a virtuosic, experimental sound world embraced with flair by the trio.

Founded in 2010, Trio Gaspard is an internationally acclaimed piano trio known for its fresh interpretative approach and wide-ranging repertoire spanning classical and contemporary works.
