Manon Galy and Jorge Gonzalez Buajasan explore the intimate and expressive landscapes of Romanticism in this recording, featuring Mendelssohn’s rare Sonata in F major MWV Q 26, Brahms’s Second, and Grieg’s Third violin sonatas, alongside poetic miniatures such as Sibelius’s Berceuse and Fibich’s Poème. Through the interplay of violin and piano, the performers evoke a spectrum of emotions—from melancholy waltz to languorous reverie—capturing the composers’ most personal and introspective musical voices with sensitivity and nuance.
Manon Galy, born in 1996 in Toulouse, began violin studies at age seven and advanced through the Toulouse Conservatory, CRR Paris, and CNSMDP under Roland Daugareil, completing her Master’s in 2023. She has won numerous international competitions, including UFAM (2009), Andrea Postacchini (2010), and received special recognition from the Vladimir Spivakov Foundation. Galy also earned awards for contemporary interpretation at the Ginette Neveux competition (2013) and won the CRR soloist competition (2014), leading to performances with the CRR symphony orchestra, establishing her as a prominent young violinist with both technical skill and expressive artistry.
Jorge Gonzalez Buajasan, born on July 8, 1994, studied at the Alejandro Garcia Conservatory in Havana and later at the Paris Conservatory with Hortense Cartier-Bresson. He has earned top honors at international competitions, including first prize and audience prize at the Kissinger KlavierOlymp (2015) and the ‘Coup de Coeur’ at the Clara Haskil International Competition (2019). González has performed at major festivals such as Beethovenfest in Bonn, La Roque d’Antheron, and Stars and Rising Stars in Munich, collaborating with orchestras including the Marseille Philharmonic, Orchestre National de France, and Latvian National Symphony, establishing him as a distinguished interpreter of classical repertoire.
