The myth of Orlando Furioso by Ludovico Ariosto has long inspired rich dramatic and musical interpretation. Blending chivalric heroism with emotional and psychological complexity, it explores the tension between reason and madness, making it ideal for Baroque expression. This programme reflects those themes through excerpts from operas by composers such as Antonio Vivaldi, George Frideric Handel, Agostino Steffani, Johann Joseph Fux, and Nicola Porpora. Through recitatives, arias, and instrumental works, the music captures the many facets of Orlando’s inner world, highlighting the emotional depth and dramatic contrasts central to the Baroque tradition.
