This CD is part of a research project initiated in 2021 by musician-teachers from the F.A. Bonporti Conservatory. The project explores and promotes women’s contributions to music—as composers, performers, and scholars—both historically and in contemporary Trentino, while examining broader gender dynamics over time. The featured composers—Elvira de Gresti, Anna Ballarini, Julie Baroni Cavalcabò, and Vilma von Webenau—are linked by their connection to Trentino and their 19th-century origins. Despite differing backgrounds, their works collectively reflect diverse female experiences within a shared historical and geographical context.

Laura Di Paolo, a Roman pianist, has lived and taught in Trento since 1984, where she serves as a piano professor at the “F.A. Bonporti” Conservatory. She trained at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome under Pina Pitini, graduating with honors, and further specialized with Aldo Ciccolini and Riccardo Brengola in piano and chamber music. An award-winning performer, she has appeared as both a soloist and chamber musician in Italy and internationally, collaborating with ensembles such as the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento. In addition to her performance career, she holds a degree in philosophy and is active in research on music performance and women composers, while regularly leading masterclasses and advanced training courses.
