Under the artistic direction of Robert van Sice, The Percussion Collective presents Seaborne, an immersive album exploring the natural world through a convergence of music and imagery. Featuring a three-movement structure composed by Garth Neustadter and visualized by video artist Kjell van Sice, the project examines the ocean from the sky, surface, and depths. Utilizing a rich instrumentation of dynamic percussion, piano, marimbas, vibraphones, and haunting vocalises, the work goes beyond mere portraiture. It serves as a profound meditation on the fragile coexistence between humanity and the sea, reflecting the ocean's beauty, turbulence, and ecological significance.

Emmy Award-winning composer and multi-instrumentalist Garth Neustadter is highly acclaimed for his lyrical, soaring scores spanning film, television, and the concert stage. In 2011, he became one of the youngest recipients of a Primetime Emmy Award for his PBS documentary score John Muir in the New World, having previously achieved distinction when Hans Zimmer selected him as the first-prize winner of the Turner Classic Movies Film Composers Competition. His diverse portfolio includes feature-length scores for Warner Bros. and international ad campaigns, as well as high-profile collaborations with filmmaker James Franco and violinist Hilary Hahn. A graduate of the Yale School of Music and an active performer, Neustadter’s multi-faceted career has been extensively profiled in prominent national media.

The Percussion Collective is a premier, flexible ensemble of international virtuosi redefining the chamber music experience. Established in 2018, the group is celebrated for its precise, emotionally resonant performances and high-profile composer collaborations. Notably, they have performed Christopher Theofanidis’s spatial concerto Drum Circles with major American orchestras and toured Garth Neustadter’s multimedia masterpiece Seaborne, scheduled for a 2026 Pentatone Records release. Comprising distinguished faculty and chamber musicians, the collective also champions community engagement, launching initiatives like the "Windows of Joy Project" to bring innovative percussion performances to diverse audiences.
