Allen Ginsberg – 100 commemorates the 2026 centennial of Allen Ginsberg through three works that highlight his longstanding artistic partnership with Philip Glass. The EP revisits key collaborations including Wichita Vortex Sutra, first performed in 1988 after a chance meeting between the two artists inspired Glass to compose music around Ginsberg’s anti-war poetry. It also features Have You Seen This Movie (Distant Figure), pairing Ginsberg’s archival reading with Glass’s Passacaglia for Solo Piano, performed by pianist Anton Batagov. The collection concludes with Magic Psalm (Etude No. 17), a newly realized work combining Ginsberg’s 1960 poem with Glass’s piano étude, performed by Maki Namekawa. Together, the recordings celebrate the enduring dialogue between poetry and minimalist music that defined their collaborations.
