Ragnhild Hemsing and VETRA present the EP Unbound, a project that blends Norwegian folk traditions with improvisation and contemporary influences. Rooted in the musical heritage of Valdres, Hemsing’s performances on violin and Hardanger fiddle maintain a strong traditional identity while embracing exploration and innovation. The EP features a collection of pieces shaped by rhythm, movement, and ensemble interaction, shifting between structured folk melodies and more atmospheric, free-form passages. Unbound reflects an evolving artistic vision that seeks to transcend conventional boundaries while remaining connected to cultural roots.

Ragnhild Hemsing (born 1988 in Valdres) is a Norwegian violinist and Hardanger fiddle player renowned for bridging classical and folk traditions. A child prodigy, she debuted at 14 with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra. Educated at the Barratt Due Music Institute and in Vienna with Boris Kuschnir, she has built an international career performing with major orchestras and at leading festivals. Hemsing is noted for expanding the Hardanger fiddle repertoire, premiering new concertos and championing cross-genre collaborations. She has released several acclaimed albums, including Røta, which won the Opus Klassik Prize. In 2013, she co-founded the Hemsing Festival.
