This debut solo album by Marta Gawlas highlights rarely performed works by prominent women composers of the Baroque and Classical eras. Centered on flute sonatas by Anna Bon and Wilhelmine von Bayreuth—both active in Bayreuth and influenced by the musical tastes of Frederick II of Prussia—the recording showcases inventive writing, bold harmonies, and expressive depth. The program also features violin sonatas by Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre, whose music was admired by Louis XIV for its originality. Through a refined and poetic interpretation, Gawlas brings renewed attention to these historically significant yet underperformed compositions.

Marta Gawlas is a specialist in historical transverse flute performance who was born in Cieszyn in 1999. She pursued studies across Europe, graduating with honors in 2024 from institutions in Katowice while further refining her artistry in Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. Gawlas performs internationally as both a soloist and chamber musician, collaborating with acclaimed ensembles including The English Concert, Les Arts Florissants, and Arte dei Suonatori. She has also worked with distinguished artists such as William Christie and Ton Koopman. A member of the Cohaere Ensemble, she won first prize at the CIMA competition in France and participated in the EEEmerging+ program from 2021 to 2023.
