The live recording presents the award-winning performances of Dutch pianist Nikola Meeuwsen, First Prize winner at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2025, showcasing his artistic maturity and interpretative range. His programme includes Mendelssohn’s introspective Variations sérieuses, Liszt’s dramatic and visionary Dante Sonata, and contemporary études by Ana Sokolović. The recording concludes with Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 9 “Jenamy,” performed with the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie under conductor Vahan Mardirossian. Together, these performances highlight Meeuwsen’s clarity, imagination, and expressive freedom, marking him as a distinctive emerging voice in contemporary piano performance.

Nikola Meeuwsen (born 2002) is an emerging Dutch pianist currently refining his artistry at the Accademia Internazionale di Imola with Enrico Pace and Marlies van Gent, and at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel under Frank Braley and Avedis Kouyoumdjian. A recipient of major Dutch distinctions including the Grachtenfestival Award (2022), he has also won earlier competitions such as the Concertgebouw Young Talent Award and the Steinway Competition. Meeuwsen has already established an active international career, performing with orchestras including the Residentie Orkest and Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, and appearing alongside artists such as Janine Jansen and Augustin Dumay. His growing reputation reflects both technical refinement and a strong presence in solo and chamber music contexts across Europe.
