GRAMMY-winning flutist Brandon Patrick George and pianist Bryan Wagorn collaborate on The Deep Has Always Known Me, an album inspired by the mythical transformation, love, and emergence of Undine. Conceived in 2022 during their first post-pandemic performances, the project explores themes of love, loss, and solace born from a period of isolation. The repertoire anchors itself in Romantic works by Franz Schubert and Carl Reinecke, while expanding into rich, colorful compositions by Lili Boulanger, Florence Price, and William Grant Still. Driven by deep musical trust, the duo delivers a reflective, intimate recording defined by profound emotional depth.
American classical flutist Brandon Patrick George is a prominent soloist, chamber musician, and educator based in Brooklyn, New York. As the flutist for the renowned ensemble Imani Winds, he won a 2024 Grammy Award for Best Classical Compendium. George has performed extensively as a guest artist and soloist with premier orchestras, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. An alumnus of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and the Manhattan School of Music, he also serves on the faculties of the Curtis Institute of Music and the Mannes School of Music. His acclaimed discography includes Flute Sonatas and Solo Works and Twofold.
Canadian pianist Bryan Wagorn is an Assistant Conductor at The Metropolitan Opera and an acclaimed soloist, chamber musician, and vocal accompanist. He performs internationally alongside elite artists such as Joyce DiDonato and Angel Blue, and featured as the pianist in the Met’s Grammy-winning production of Porgy and Bess. Wagorn made his Carnegie Hall solo debut in 2009 and frequently engages with prestigious festivals and institutions, including Marlboro, Ravinia, and Glyndebourne. A dedicated educator, he holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the Manhattan School of Music and serves on multiple arts advisory boards.
