Exile To Hollywood explores the Golden Age of film music by tracing the impact of European composers who emigrated to Hollywood and helped define its orchestral sound. Performed by violinist Isabelle Durin and pianist Michaël Ertzscheid, the album reimagines the symphonic tradition shaped by figures such as Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Max Steiner, Franz Waxman, and Miklós Rózsa. Blending post-Romantic heritage with jazz and American modernist influences, the recording highlights themes of exile, cultural exchange, and artistic resilience within 20th-century cinematic music.
Isabelle Durin is a French violinist trained at leading conservatories in Versailles, Lyon, and Paris, where she studied under prominent teachers including Alexandre Brussilovsky and Alain Meunier. She has performed as a member of the Orchestre national d’Île-de-France and has appeared internationally across Europe, Asia, and the United States. As a recording artist, she collaborates regularly with pianist Michaël Ertzscheid on albums exploring diverse themes such as Romantic repertoire and film music. Durin has also served as an artistic director for festivals and has participated in multidisciplinary concert projects and cultural productions.
