Since its relaunch by Sinfonia of London in 2018 under John Wilson, the ensemble has received major critical acclaim, appearing annually at the BBC Proms since 2021 and making its international debut in 2025 at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam. The orchestra regularly tours the UK and has released 25 albums spanning repertoire from Rachmaninoff to Rodgers & Hammerstein. French orchestral music, shaped by opera and ballet traditions, emphasizes poetic narrative rather than German symphonic structure, with orchestrators such as Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel expanding orchestral color and texture. The ensemble is noted for its precision, finesse, and stylistic versatility.
