Where The Heart Roams marks the debut album of a soprano who is also the programme’s composer, exploring the deeply personal question of what “home” truly means. Rooted in experiences of growing up in Wigan and developing artistically in Manchester and beyond, the album reflects the tension between permanence and movement that often shapes an artist’s life. Through themes of northern identity, pastoral beauty, memory, and belonging, the music celebrates the emotional power of ordinary moments — shared laughter, open landscapes, evening light, and quiet reflection. Ultimately, the programme suggests that while life may lead us far afield, the heart always remains connected to its origins.
Lucy Farrimond is a British lyric soprano whose career has taken her to leading concert halls and festivals across the UK and internationally, including the Royal Albert Hall, Bridgewater Hall, and Snape Maltings. She made her solo debut at the BBC Proms at just 21, performing The Creation with the BBC Philharmonic. Lucy has since collaborated with major orchestras including the Hallé and the BBC Symphony Orchestra under distinguished conductors such as Sir Mark Elder and Sakari Oramo. Alongside acclaimed operatic and concert performances, she is also recognised as a composer, educator, podcast host, and advocate for accessibility in opera, with works broadcast on BBC television.
