Gabriel Fauré’s thirteen Nocturnes, composed over forty years, serve as an intimate diary charting the evolution of his musical language from Romanticism to modernism. Moving beyond the traditional night scenes of Field and Chopin, Fauré uses the genre to explore complex emotional states through refined piano writing and daring harmonies. As the cycle progresses alongside Fauré's advancing hearing loss, the music transitions from a Romantic cantabile style to a sparse, introspective, and meditative Neoclassicism. In this recording, Italian pianist Michele Fazio highlights this narrative journey, emphasizing transparent textures and emotional depth over virtuosity to reveal a timeless, contemplative beauty.

Born in Bari in 1995, Italian pianist Michele Fazio demonstrated exceptional musical talent early on, studying under prominent instructors including Cinzia Falco, Alfonso Soldano, and Pierluigi Camicia. His technical training and refined artistry have earned him numerous national and international awards, notably securing absolute victories at the Taranto International Piano Competition and the Eurorchestra Competition. Fazio has enriched his skills through global masterclasses and high-performance courses at the "Aldo Ciccolini" European Academy of Arts. A recognized rising talent on the Italian music scene, he maintains an active concert career, performing solo recitals both nationally and internationally.
