_____________________

Mahan Esfahani’s monumental project to record the complete keyboard works of Bach reaches its zenith with The Complete Keyboard Concertos. Partnering with the Britten Sinfonia, Esfahani actively challenges traditional performance paradigms by eschewing period instruments in favor of modern ones, effectively dispelling the notion of the harpsichord as a merely "ancient" instrument. In addition to serving as both harpsichordist and director, Esfahani highlights Bach's pioneering role in placing the keyboard at the center of the concerto form. This release also marks a creative milestone for Esfahani, featuring the premiere recording of his own scholarly reconstruction of the "lost" Concerto No. 8 (BWV 1059).

Since his 2009 London debut, Tehran-born harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani (b. 1984) has become a leading international figure, acclaimed for repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary. The first harpsichordist to be a BBC New Generation Artist, he has also won the Borletti-Buitoni Prize and numerous recording awards. He has performed concertos worldwide with major orchestras and conductors, collaborated in chamber music with renowned soloists, and championed new works by leading contemporary composers. His discography on Hyperion and Deutsche Grammophon has earned top honors. Also active as broadcaster and writer, Esfahani studied at Stanford and with Zuzana Růžičková. He now resides in Prague.
