Laura Netzel: Complete Works for Violin & Piano is a landmark recording that illuminates the intimate, richly melodic chamber music of Swedish-Finnish composer Laura Netzel (1839–1927). Forced to publish under the gender-neutral pseudonym N. Lago due to 19th-century societal prejudices, Netzel skillfully blended Nordic folk inflections with daring French late-Romantic chromaticism. Violinist Agata Kawa-Cajler and pianist Aleksandra Dallali draw on over a decade of collaboration to perform these poetic, virtuosic miniatures with a compelling, quiet intensity. This album serves as a crucial artistic restoration, successfully establishing Netzel's rightful place among the most prominent figures of the Nordic neo-Romantic tradition.
Agata Kawa-Cajler is a prominent Polish violinist based in Sweden who excels as a soloist, educator, and orchestral leader. Currently serving as associate concertmaster for both the Folkoperan in Stockholm and the Norrlandsoperan in Umeå, she dedicates a substantial portion of her artistic focus to championed works by female composers. A highly decorated laureate of international competitions, including Italy’s Valsesia Musica, Kawa-Cajler has performed widely with leading Swedish and Polish orchestras. She balances her concert career with teaching at Stockholm's Nordic School of Music and serves on the board of the Uppsala Chamber Music Association, performing on a rare 1723 Matteo Goffriller instrument.
