The hmHeritage series preserves the legacy of the harmonia mundi catalog by reissuing its most significant large-scale productions, operas, and extensive musical cycles. A hallmark of this collection is Hugo Reyne’s landmark 1990 release, which marked the first-ever complete recording of the legendary Symphonies pour les Soupers du Roy. Capturing a remarkably varied and comprehensive selection of courtly music, this set of discs was originally produced to honor the grandeur of the French Baroque era. More than two decades after its initial release, Reyne's definitive interpretation continues to endure as the absolute benchmark version for this repertoire.
Michel-Richard Delalande (1657–1726) was a highly prosperous French composer, organist, and harpsichordist who enjoyed a distinguished career under Louis XIV and Louis XV. Initially a chorister in Paris, he temporarily succeeded Charles Couperin at St Gervais before ascending to prestigious court positions, eventually becoming the superintendent of the royal chamber music. De Lalande is historically renowned for elevated contributions to the grands motets, leaving approximately 70 large-scale liturgical compositions for the royal chapel at Versailles. Additionally, he excelled in instrumental music, arranging sophisticated orchestral suites from his stage works and compiling traditional French Christmas carols into his Symphonies de Noëls.
Hugo Reyne is an acclaimed French flutist, oboist, musicologist, and conductor specializing in early music. A highly decorated prodigy, he won prestigious international competitions in the early 1980s before enjoying a prolific orchestral career, notably serving as principal flutist for Les Arts Florissants. In 1987, he founded his own ensemble, La Simphonie du Marais, and has since conducted globally while releasing extensive, benchmark solo discographies. A dedicated educator, Reyne has taught at the conservatories of Bordeaux and Marseille. He was appointed Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 1998 for his profound musicological research and preservation of French musical heritage.
