On her album Naïades, Korean concert organist Hyelin Lee offers a compelling survey of late-Romantic French organ music. A notable highlight is her inclusion of organ transcriptions of Gabriel Fauré's piano works, filling a unique historical void since Fauré composed no original organ pieces despite his nine-year tenure at Paris's Madeleine church. For enthusiasts, the recording holds exceptional value as it features the Cavaillé-Coll organ at the basilica of Sainte-Anne-d'Auray, marking the first official commercial recording of this historic instrument. Lee’s performance thus bridges a repertoire gap while showcasing a rare acoustic treasure.
Based in Germany for over a decade, Seoul-born concert organist Hyelin Lee is highly regarded for her elegant, deeply expressive interpretations, particularly within the French symphonic repertoire. Currently serving as a church musician in Stuttgart and assistant organist at Ulm Minster, she performs internationally as both a soloist and chamber musician. Lee's discography includes acclaimed recordings for Hänssler Classic and SWR Kultur / Coviello Classics, the latter inspiring contemporary composer Philippe Mazé to dedicate a work to her. An award-winning competitor, former DAAD scholar, and educator, she holds advanced degrees and a concert examination from the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart.
