On the album Quiet Irises, pianist Jingyang Dong champions the piano works of four pioneering French female composers: Nadia and Lili Boulanger, Germaine Tailleferre, and Louise Farrenc. The collection highlights how each composer uniquely navigated the systemic restrictions of her era, whether through Farrenc and Nadia Boulanger’s acclaimed pedagogical careers, Tailleferre’s self-advocacy as the sole female member of Les Six, or Lili Boulanger's tragically brief yet brilliant life. Amplified by Dong’s exquisite, powerful interpretation, these compositions reveal a shared, indomitable artistic force, culminating in a performance that stands as a definitive, masterly tribute to their enduring musical legacies.

Jingyang Dong is a New York-based Chinese-American pianist and educator recognized for her expressive artistry and community engagement. A graduate of the Mannes School of Music with a Master’s degree in Piano Performance, Dong is a signed artist with Concerts in Motion, frequently performing as a soloist and chamber musician across New York and New Jersey. Her playing is celebrated for its sensitivity, clarity, and communicative depth. In addition to her active performing career, Dong is a highly accomplished pedagogue, earning recognition as a Steinway Top Teacher for her comprehensive, individualistic approach to technical foundation and artistic development.
