The Vienna Boys' Choir (Wiener Sängerknaben) is one of the world’s most renowned boys’ choirs, based in Vienna. Its origins date to 1498, when Emperor Maximilian I established a court chapel that included boy singers. Today, the choir comprises about 100 choristers aged 9 to 14, organized into four touring ensembles named after Austrian composers. As a private non-profit institution, it performs approximately 300 concerts annually for audiences worldwide while maintaining a strong tradition of musical education. The choir is celebrated for its artistic excellence, international reach, and significant contribution to Austria’s cultural heritage.
