Violinist Ning Feng, accompanied by the Kammerakademie Potsdam, delivers a compelling performance of the complete Mozart violin concertos on Channel Classics. Mostly composed in 1775 when Mozart was nineteen, these five works were prompted by his father Leopold’s anxiety that Wolfgang might neglect the instrument as a viable source of travel income. Though written primarily for financial security, the concertos brilliantly highlight Mozart's exceptional understanding of the violin. Infused with the theatrical twists, turns, and dramatic flair that were already second nature to the young composer, the pieces vividly reflect a mind perpetually fixated on the world of opera.

Ning Feng (b. 1982) is an internationally acclaimed violinist celebrated for his lyrical tone, natural musicianship, and dazzling virtuosity. Praised by The Washington Post for his “creamy, easy tone and emotional honesty,” he performs worldwide with leading orchestras including the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonics, Royal Philharmonic, and Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks. A winner of the 2005 Michael Hill and 2006 Paganini International Violin Competitions, he plays the 1710 Stradivari “Vieuxtemps Hauser.” Based in Berlin, Ning Feng is Professor of Violin at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler and also teaches in Manchester and at conservatories in Zhejiang and Sichuan, China.
