Following its gripping interpretation of La Passione, the Terra Nova Collective, directed by Vlad Weverbergh, presents a brilliant and vital new recording of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Symphony No. 41, Jupiter. Rather than treating this masterpiece as an end in itself, the ensemble utilizes it as a historical bridge to Brussels, where a young Mozart encountered Flemish court musician Pieter van Maldere in 1763. Driven by a mission to re-examine music history, the ensemble aims to restore this unjustly forgotten master to the classical pantheon, elevating van Maldere from the archives to his rightful place alongside Viennese Classical giants.

Launched in Antwerp in 2012 under artistic director Vlad Weverbergh, the Terra Nova Collective champion forgotten musical gems from the Austrian Netherlands, focusing primarily on Classical and Early Romantic repertoires. By juxtaposing these rediscovered compositions with canonical Western masterpieces, the ensemble highlights the rich diversity of European classical music. Performing on period instruments with historically informed practices, this premier Belgian ensemble has toured prestigious global venues across Europe, Asia, and the United States for over a decade. Recently, the collective expanded into symphonic choral repertoire, collaborating with choir master Bart Vandewege to revive historically significant choral works.
