American pianist Roger McVey presents Vers la Flamme, a soulful tribute celebrating the visionary, synaesthetic composer Alexander Scriabin. Named after Scriabin's evocative Vers la flamme, Op. 72, the album captures a warm, eternal glow alongside the burning intensity of the composer's notoriously challenging etudes. McVey masterfully balances lyricism and vigor, breathing new life into a revolutionary body of work that redefined twentieth-century tonality before Scriabin's untimely death in 1915. The resulting performance is a vivid, emotionally rich testament to Scriabin’s obsession with musical color and his brilliant, lasting artistic legacy.

Acclaimed American pianist Roger McVey serves as the Head of Keyboard Studies and Professor of Piano at the University of Idaho’s Lionel Hampton School of Music. An alumnus of the University of Kansas, Indiana University, and East Carolina University, he studied under legendary mentors including Menahem Pressler and Anton Nel. As a prizewinner of the International Beethoven Competition and a semifinalist at the International Franz Liszt Competition in Poland, McVey has earned global praise for his passionate artistry. He is also a Steinway & Sons Hall of Fame Teacher and a dedicated advocate for contemporary music, collaborating with leading composers such as Julia Wolfe and Libby Larsen.
