The TYRANNIDE recording project conceptualizes cante jondo as a universal musical archetype of human suffering and longing rather than a purely Spanish tradition. Defined by primordial semitones and microtonal inflections, this inescapable expressive lament transcends eras and cultures, manifesting across diverse musical languages. Anchored by two world-premiere recordings: Jean-Dominique Krynen's Cantar de mio Cid and Maurice Ohana's Concerto Trois Graphiques arranged for guitar and piano, the program curates a stylistic journey. By placing cante jondo in dialogue with varied historical contexts, the album masterfully demonstrates the enduring continuity of this profound vocal and instrumental tradition.

Italian classical guitarist Marco Piperno, born in Lecce in 1992, has established an international concert career since his solo recital debut at age 12. A graduate of the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome and the Arrigo Boito Conservatory in Parma, he completed advanced master’s degrees with high honors under the mentorship of masters like Oscar Ghiglia and Bruno Battisti D'Amario. He has won over ten international first prizes, including the Forum Gitarre Wien and the Andrés Segovia Competition. He performs globally in prestigious venues like the Vienna Konzerthaus, appears regularly as a festival juror, and serves as a conservatory professor.
