Marking the 25th anniversary of the Kammerakademie Potsdam (KAP), a vibrant new interpretation of Johann Sebastian Bach’s The Musical Offering presents a fresh perspective on the historic masterpiece. Arranged specifically for the ensemble by principal oboist Jan Böttcher and directed by concertmaster Peter Rainer, the performance maintains urtext integrity while expanding the sonic palette. Recorded at Potsdam’s Nikolaisaal, returning the Frederick the Great-dedicated work to its historical home, the arrangement incorporates historical chamber forces alongside rare instruments, including bass oboe, basset horn, cornett, piccolo trumpet, and selective percussion, to illuminate the composition's intricate fugues, canons, and ricercars.

Since 2001, the Kammerakademie Potsdam (KAP) has served as the resident orchestra of the Nikolaisaal, establishing itself as a prominent cultural institution in Brandenburg under the artistic direction of François Leleux. Comprising 32 independent musicians, the ensemble presents a broad repertoire spanning four centuries through symphonic programs, chamber series, contemporary performances, and the annual Potsdam Winter Opera. KAP maintains an active international presence through global tours and award-winning recordings, earning multiple OPUS KLASSIK prizes. Beyond concert stages, the orchestra advances cultural education and community engagement through interactive youth programs and its acclaimed initiative, "Music Creates Perspectives."
