This premier release on Alpha Classics highlights three orchestral works by Sweden’s leading composer, Anders Hillborg, performed in partnership with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. Showcasing Hillborg's signature blend of spectacular sound textures, rare instrumentation, and subtle electronic influences, the album features world-premiere recordings of Through Lost Landscapes and the Sibelius-inspired Sound Atlas, conducted by Pekka Kuusisto and Brad Lubman, respectively. Completing the program, Swedish soprano Ida Falk Winland delivers an inspired performance of The Strand Settings, a captivating vocal work originally written for Renée Fleming set to poetry by Mark Strand, under Kuusisto's direction.

Born in 1954, Anders Hillborg stands as one of Sweden’s premier contemporary composers, celebrated for a wide-ranging catalog spanning orchestral, chamber, choral, film, and pop music. After studying at Stockholm's Royal College of Music, he established a full-time freelance career in 1982. A recipient of multiple Swedish Grammys, UNESCO Rostrum accolades, and the Gannevik Prize, Hillborg has held prestigious residencies and received commissions from leading global institutions, including the Berlin Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, and Los Angeles Philharmonic. His vibrant compositions have been championed worldwide by elite soloists and renowned conductors such as Esa-Pekka Salonen and Alan Gilbert.
