Chants de la nuit by oboist Juri Vallentin and pianist Philipp Heiß offers an evocative soundscape situated at the intersection of dreams, shadow, and luminous poetry. Through custom arrangements for oboe and piano, the album reinterprets impressionist works by Maurice Ravel, Gabriel Fauré, Pierre de Bréville, Olivier Messiaen, Émile Vuillermoz, and Paul Dukas with remarkable intensity. Capturing its title's nocturnal theme, the music unfolds in mysterious, ethereal, and subtly nuanced hues, evoking a contemplative atmosphere filled with silence, memory, and inner radiance. Ultimately, this collection delivers a deeply nuanced chamber music experience that highlights the expressive versatility of the oboe in an impressionistic context.

Born in Mainz, oboist Juri Vallentin earned his degrees in Nuremberg and at the prestigious Conservatoire de Paris, graduating with highest honors, and was appointed Professor of Oboe at the Karlsruhe University of Music in 2021. As a historic prizewinner at the 16th International Tchaikovsky Competition and winner of the 2021 Berlin Prize for Young Artists, he has performed as a soloist with major European and Russian orchestras. Vallentin’s diverse discography includes his acclaimed albums BRIDGES and EBENBILD. His rich repertoire balances core classical masterworks and forgotten Baroque discoveries with active collaborations on contemporary world premieres by composers like Toshio Hosokawa.
