Pieter van Maldere’s (1729–1768) symphonies, long misattributed to Joseph Haydn, demonstrate the Flemish master's exceptional quality and historic influence, which notably impressed a young Mozart. Championing his legacy, the Terra Nova Collective, directed by Vlad Weverbergh, presents an EP dedicated to restoring van Maldere to his rightful place alongside classical giants like Haydn and Mozart. Committed to resurrecting historical works with vibrant precision, the ensemble unleashes the sparkling vitality of van Maldere's output. This release serves as a precursor to the Terra Nova Collective’s upcoming milestone project: the complete recording of van Maldere's extant symphonies.

As artistic and musical director, Vlad Weverbergh founded the Terra Nova Collective in 2012, leading a flexible ensemble dedicated to rediscovering and performing neglected classical repertoire. His artistic vision is grounded in a distinguished career as a clarinetist, having studied under Walter Boeykens at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp, where he currently serves as professor of bass clarinet. Weverbergh has performed with major conductors and orchestras across Europe, compiled an extensive discography featuring major clarinet masterworks alongside world premiere recordings, and remains active as a recording producer and educator.
