A Baroque Fantasy: Dialogues with Vivaldi bridges the historical and contemporary by pairing two of Antonio Vivaldi’s motets, one sacred and one secular, with Courtney Carey’s newly composed Stabat Mater. Centered on dramatic expression, structural clarity, and the natural inflection of the human voice, Carey’s composition provides a poignant modern counterpart to Vivaldi’s vivid instrumental style. Performed by a distinguished ensemble of vocalists alongside Courtney’s Stars of Tomorrow and the Bronx Arts Ensemble, this recording reinterprets Baroque traditions through a shared language of emotional intensity. The result is an intimate, transparent, and immediate dialogue between centuries of vocal artistry.

Memphis native Courtney Carey is an accomplished baritone, conductor, composer, and founder of Courtney’s Stars of Tomorrow, a New York-based classical performing arts organization. Educated at Morehouse College, the Eastman School of Music, and Mannes College of Music, he made his operatic debut in Munich in 2003 and has since performed principal roles in works such as Così fan tutte, Ariadne auf Naxos, and Il tabarro. A recipient of the Arleen Auger Memorial Scholarship, Carey is also a published choral arranger with GIA Publications and Roger Dean Music, seamlessly blending executive leadership with vocal performance and composition.
