Her artistic stature is evidenced by her inclusion alongside icons like Berlioz, Gounod, and Liszt in major contemporary music anthologies, which featured her graceful Mélodie in A flat major and Impromptu in B minor. This landmark release highlights her timeless brilliance through the world-premiere recording of her previously unpublished Fugues. Maria Stratigou is a distinguished Greek pianist and scholar specializing in the music of Louise Farrenc. Educated at the Athens Conservatory, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and the Royal Northern College of Music—where she earned a PhD on Farrenc’s études—Stratigou currently serves on the faculties of the Universities of Sheffield and Huddersfield. Her comprehensive recordings of Farrenc’s complete piano works earned her the 2024 Gina Bachauer International Music Association discography prize. An active international performer, speaker, and advocate for 19th-century women composers, Stratigou has toured across Europe, won numerous prestigious competitions, and premiered several notable contemporary piano compositions.
