Originally forged by Mozart and Haydn, this classical framework is reinterpreted through the modern, energetic perspectives of Sergei Prokofiev in Russia, Francis Poulenc in France, and Heitor Villa-Lobos in Brazil. Recorded in Vienna, the album brings the tradition full circle by pairing Prokofiev’s Classical Symphony, Villa-Lobos’s Sinfonietta "In Memory of Mozart", and Poulenc’s Sinfonietta. Together, these dynamic performances illuminate the clarity, contrasting textures, and enduring global influence of the Viennese classical legacy.

Italo-Brazilian conductor Simone Menezes (b. 1977) is a prominent international artist known for her innovative interdisciplinary projects and dynamic podium presence. Mentored by Paavo Järvi after studies in São Paulo, Paris, and London, Menezes has conducted major world ensembles, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Orchestre de Paris, and the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra. She is the founder and artistic director of Ensemble K, as well as the creator of Amazônia, an acclaimed collaboration with photographer Sebastião Salgado. Recognized with an International Classical Music Award for her documentary Metanoia, Menezes actively champions contemporary works alongside leading modern composers and performers.
