The collection opens with Ellen Harrison’s The Time Between (2020), an evocative suite capturing nuanced emotional states through colorful, cinematic textures. Jonathan Cziner’s brief Elegy (2014) builds from an intimate lament into a resonant climax, while Edward Green’s contrapuntal miniature On Deeper Reflection (2024) offers quiet philosophical depth. At the album's core lies Thomas Schwan’s Notturno (2025), exploring the cosmic dimensions of human suffering and faith, leading into the grand finale, Ralf Gawlick’s Mysterium doloris quintae (1997), a poignant meditation on shared existence, redemption, and grace.

Acclaimed concert pianist, recording artist, and pedagogue Liudmila Georgievskaya is an inheritor of the Russian piano school who graduated summa cum laude from the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory before completing advanced studies in Rome and the United States. Winner of over a dozen international piano competitions, she has performed worldwide as a soloist, orchestral guest, and chamber musician with the Voices of Change ensemble, as well as in piano duos with her husband, Thomas Schwan, and her sister, Olga. Praise from major outlets like The Guardian greeted her award-winning 2013 debut album on Odradek Records, and she currently serves as Assistant Professor of Piano at the University of North Texas.
