Moriarty's vocalist Rosemary Standley has teamed up with François Lazarevitch, founder of Les Musiciens de Saint-Julien, for a collaborative project exploring traditional English, Scottish, and Irish ballads. Building on Standley's previous folk-focused releases for Alpha, this program draws from late 19th-century collections by Child and Sharp, foundational texts that shaped American folk music. Following in the footsteps of iconic artists like Joan Baez and Nina Simone, the ensemble performs narrative songs of love, betrayal, and adventure using period instrumentation, including baroque harp, viola da gamba, pandora, bodhrán drum, flutes, and bagpipes.

Rosemary Standley (born 1979) is a French-American singer, musician, and actress who trained in visual arts and opera before gaining prominence as the lead vocalist of the folk-rock band Moriarty. Known for her stylistic versatility across folk, classical, and theatrical genres, she has launched several notable collaborative projects, including the cello-vocal duo Birds on a Wire with Dom La Nena, the supergroup Les Françoises, and the homage project Wati Watia Zorey Band. Standley's diverse discography includes Love I Obey and Schubert in Love, and her stage career encompasses dramatic roles such as Macha Makeïeff's Lewis versus Alice and François Gremaud's adaptation of Carmen.
