While Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s keyboard legacy is dominated by his famed sonatas and concertos, his lesser-known occasional pieces, fragments, and experimental works offer a deeply intimate glimpse into his broader creative universe. This diverse repertoire features functional ceremonial dances, counterpoint-driven Baroque homages like the Suite in C major, and lyrical transcriptions originally conceived for mechanical organ and glass harmonica. In this recording, pianist Giuseppe Bruno approaches these brief miniatures and incomplete sketches—including his own stylistic completion of the K. 399 Sarabande—with scholarly rigor and expressive sensitivity, illuminating the timeless elegance and compositional genius found within Mozart’s smaller-scale keyboard creations.
Giuseppe Bruno is an accomplished pianist, composer, and conductor who graduated with honors before further honing his skills at IRCAM and under renowned mentors. Currently serving as the Director of the "Giacomo Puccini" Conservatoire in La Spezia, Bruno has established an international reputation as a brilliant soloist and chamber musician. He has conducted prestigious ensembles globally, including the Archi della Scala, and won prizes at major competitions like Rome and "Viotti." His extensive discography spans multiple major labels and radio networks, while his compositions and transcriptions are published and performed worldwide, reflecting his multifaceted expertise.
