The multi-talented PUBLIQuartet presents Rhythm Nation, a vibrant album celebrating American rhythmic traditions as expressions of bodily autonomy and tacit history. Supported by a 2024 Chamber Music America grant, this dynamic collection features commissioned works by Jlin, Jeff Scott, Mazz Swift, and Eddie Venegas. The ensemble also expands upon compositions by Fodé Lassana Diabaté and Henry Threadgill from the Kronos Quartet’s Fifty for the Future project, integrated with electronic interludes by Jannina and John-Paul Norpoth inspired by Janet Jackson’s iconic title track. Together, these evocative pieces honor the diverse plurality of American movement and preserve the unspoken narratives of their musical lineages.

Founded in 2010 in New York City, the Grammy-nominated PUBLIQuartet is renowned for its genre-bending approach to contemporary, jazz, and world chamber music. Recipients of Chamber Music America’s Visionary Award and the Concert Artists Guild New Music/New Places award, the string quartet blends original compositions, open-form improvisations, and reimagined classical masterworks. They have performed at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, alongside high-profile television appearances and collaborations with leading jazz icons. Dedicated to expanding the classical canon and promoting inclusivity, PUBLIQuartet actively supports underrepresented, living composers through dynamic educational initiatives and signature creative programs.
