Andrew Manze (b. 1965) is a distinguished British conductor and violinist renowned for his expertise in both historical performance and mainstream orchestral repertoire. He studied Classics at Cambridge University before training as a violinist under Simon Standage at the Royal Academy of Music. Manze gained prominence as a specialist in early music, serving as Associate Director of the Academy of Ancient Music and Artistic Director of The English Concert. He has held prominent conducting positions, including Chief Conductor of the NDR Radiophilharmonie in Hannover (2014–2023) and Principal Guest Conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra since 2018. His extensive discography includes acclaimed recordings of Mendelssohn, Mozart, and Vaughan Williams. A Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music and Visiting Professor at the Oslo Academy, Manze is also recognized for his contributions to music education and scholarship, having received the Rolf Schock Prize in 2011.
