Johann Christian Bach (1735–1782) was a German composer of the Classical era and the youngest son of the legendary Johann Sebastian Bach. Known as the “London Bach” for his influential years in England, J.C. Bach played a key role in shaping the early Classical style, bridging the gap between the Baroque and Classical periods. After studying music in Berlin and Milan, where he converted to Catholicism and composed sacred music, he moved to London in 1762. There, he quickly gained popularity, composing operas, symphonies, and chamber works that were noted for their elegance, clarity, and lyrical charm.

J.C. Bach became a major figure in London's musical life, co-founding the Bach-Abel concerts—the first subscription concert series in England. His music had a significant influence on the young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who met him during a visit to London in the 1760s and greatly admired his style. Though his fame declined after his death, Johann Christian Bach's contributions to the Classical tradition and his role in popularizing the galant style have earned him renewed appreciation in modern music history.
