Antonín Dvořák’s "American" chamber music reflects the joy and inspiration he experienced during his time in the United States in the early 1890s. While serving as director of the National Conservatory in New York, he composed vibrant, colorful works influenced by the American landscape and Native American music. Among these are the well-known American String Quartet and the less familiar but equally rich American String Quintet in E-flat major. Both are favorites of the Mandelring Quartett. The ensemble also presents a new discovery—Humoresques, Op. 101—in a first-ever arrangement for string quartet, featuring the famous melody "Eine kleine Frühlingsweise."

Founded in 1983, the Mandelring Quartett is one of Germany’s leading string quartets, winning major competitions such as ARD’s International Music Competition and the Premio Paolo Borciani. Their international concert career spans Europe, the Americas, and Asia, with appearances at renowned festivals like the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg and the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival. They established the HambacherMusikFest in 1997 in Neustadt, their hometown, and now host concert series there and at the Berliner Philharmonie. Renowned for complete cycles of works by Mendelssohn, Brahms, and Shostakovich, they performed at the Spanish Royal Palace on royal Stradivari instruments. Their acclaimed recordings have earned numerous awards and high praise worldwide.
