Peter Scott Lewis, born in 1953 in San Rafael, California, is a San Francisco-based composer of modern classical music with an international presence. A graduate of Yale and the San Francisco Conservatory, he studied with noted composers and musicians including Andrew Imbrie and Morton Subotnick. His diverse body of work spans orchestral, chamber, vocal, and solo pieces, including Pacific Triptych, two violin and cello concertos, and various string quartets and piano trios. His music has been widely commissioned, performed across the U.S., Europe, and Japan, and recorded by labels like Naxos and Sono Luminus. He also teaches, performs, and collaborates across artistic disciplines.

Pacific Triptych (2019) is a three-movement piano work, adapted from a 2006 orchestral version, portraying the grandeur of the Pacific Coast, particularly the ocean's power and the vast sky. Seven Nuggets (2023) comprises seven brief piano movements, each likened to an uncut gemstone, ending on a low bass note. These notes are later replayed in sequence mid-range and resolved into a sixth chord at the end. An American Travelogue (Book 1) (2023) is a four-movement suite inspired by locations across the western, southwestern, and Gulf Coast regions of the U.S., with Book 2 set to explore the rest of the country.
