Born in 1944 in Moscow, pianist Alexei Lubimov is celebrated for his artistic integrity and versatility. A student of Heinrich Neuhaus, he champions both Baroque music on period instruments and 20th-century composers like Silvestrov, Pärt, and Ligeti. During Soviet restrictions, he founded the “Alternativa” festival and a Baroque quartet. As restrictions eased, he gained international recognition, performing with major orchestras and conductors worldwide. Equally skilled in classical, romantic, and contemporary repertoire, Lubimov also collaborates regularly in chamber music, appearing at top festivals and with renowned ensembles, making him a singular figure in the global classical music scene.
