Thibault Noally and his ensemble honor Alessandro Scarlatti’s anniversary with a recording centered on his enigmatic Stabat mater, revealing the composer’s more personal and introspective side. Noally describes the work as an “extreme example of stylistic eclecticism,” combining passionate duets, Neapolitan-style arias, and contrasting musical languages without seeking synthesis. The result, he notes, is music that transcends its text to become an autonomous emotional world. Alongside the Stabat mater, the program features two Mottetti sacri and a Sonata a quattro in the da chiesa style, performed with soprano Emmanuelle de Negri and countertenor Paul Figuier.

Thibault Noally (b. 1982) is a French violinist and conductor celebrated for his interpretations of Baroque and early Classical music. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London, he has worked with major ensembles including Les Musiciens du Louvre and Les Musiciens du Prince – Monaco. In 2014, he founded Les Accents, devoted to reviving forgotten works by composers such as Porpora, Vivaldi, Scarlatti, and Handel. Performing across Europe’s leading venues, his recordings have received awards like the Diapason d’Or and CHOC de Classica. He frequently collaborates with renowned singers including Cecilia Bartoli and Philippe Jaroussky and plays a 1653 Jakobus Stainer violin.
