Florent Albrecht and Ensemble L’Encyclopédie make their harmonia mundi debut with an album celebrating the playful creativity of Leopold and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The program features the familiar Toy Symphony, the sparkling bells of Leopold’s A Musical Sleigh Ride, and Wolfgang’s humorous A Musical Joke, a witty demonstration of intentionally “wrong” composition. Throughout the recording, joy, fantasy, and refined humor shine at the heart of the Mozarts’ music. These qualities are matched by the ensemble’s polished style and attention to detail, offering listeners a lively and imaginative exploration of the mischievous side of the Mozart family’s artistry.

Ensemble L’Encyclopédie was founded in 2020 by Florent Albrecht near Lake Geneva and expanded to France in 2022. The group focuses on music from 1750–1830, a period of major artistic change, and is committed to historically informed performance grounded in research, historical sources, and period instruments. Their flexible ensemble adapts to each repertoire while maintaining expressive clarity, vitality, and attention to the music’s original character. Its musicians are leading specialists who also perform with top European ensembles. Despite beginning during the pandemic, the ensemble has quickly gained recognition, appearing at prominent venues and festivals in Switzerland and France.
