This final album in the three-part series of Beethoven’s Complete Violin Sonatas features outstanding performances by violinist Carlos Damas and pianist Rubén Lorenzo. Following their successful collaboration on four live recitals in Spain, where they performed the full cycle of sonatas, the duo has captured the same artistry and synergy in this concluding recording, bringing their Beethoven project to a compelling close.

Portuguese violinist Carlos Damas (born 1973) is acclaimed as one of his country’s leading classical musicians, recognized for his expressive interpretations and extensive international career. A recording artist for Dux Records, Brilliant Classics, Et’cetera Records, and Naxos, he is especially noted for his performances of Fritz Kreisler and for premiering works by Portuguese composers such as António Fragoso and Luís de Freitas Branco. Renowned critics have compared Damas to masters like Gidon Kremer and Henryk Szeryng, praising his artistry and wide-ranging repertoire that spans classical masterpieces to contemporary compositions.

Zaragoza-born pianist Rubén Lorenzo has enjoyed an international career since 1982, performing in renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, Salle Cortot in Paris, Franz Liszt Hall in Budapest, and major halls across China, Africa, and the Americas. A versatile artist, he has premiered George Crumb’s Makrokosmos in Spain and performed complete cycles of Granados’s Goyescas, Albéniz’s Iberia and Spanish Suite, and Beethoven’s 10 violin sonatas. His discography includes acclaimed recordings of Spanish repertoire and Beethoven sonatas for Etcetera Records. A distinguished educator, he earned a PhD cum laude and has held leading academic and cultural posts in Aragon, Spain.
