In the third volume of their complete Mozart series, Maxim Emelyanychev and Il Pomo d’Oro present the Haffner and Linz symphonies (1782–1783), works that reveal Mozart’s operatic flair and dramatic sensibility. Emelyanychev, known for his vibrant and refined interpretations, brings these symphonies to life with energy and theatrical depth. The ensemble delivers performances marked by precision, authenticity, and expressive intensity. Violinist Aylen Pritchin, a frequent collaborator, joins the program with a dynamic rendition of Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 3, completing an album that embodies bold artistry and the spirit of innovation characteristic of Mozart’s Vienna years.
Maxim Emelyanychev (b. 1988) is a Russian conductor, pianist, harpsichordist, and organist. Principal Conductor of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra since 2019 and Chief Conductor of Il Pomo d’Oro, he will become Principal Guest Conductor of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra in 2025/26. Born in Nizhny Novgorod, he studied conducting with Gennady Rozhdestvensky at the Moscow Conservatoire. Emelyanychev has led major orchestras worldwide, including the Berlin Philharmonic and Royal Concertgebouw, and conducted operas at Glyndebourne, Covent Garden, and Zürich. A frequent collaborator with Joyce DiDonato and Jakub Józef Orliński, he is also recording Mozart’s complete symphonies with Il Pomo d’Oro. His awards include the 2019 Critics’ Circle Young Talent Award and the 2025 Herbert von Karajan Award.
