BACH REGROUNDED presents cellists Alexander Suleiman and Antonio Clavijo Rojas exploring a fresh sonic approach to Bach. In the Bourrées from the Third Cello Suite, they blend historically informed performance with contemporary creativity, each contributing improvised bass lines that expand the piece’s texture. The release also features the world premiere recording of Igor Loboda’s Meditation on Bach’s Prelude for solo cello, a reflective work dedicated to Suleiman.

Alexander Suleiman studied with Eldar Issakadze, Daniil Shafran, and Natalia Gutman, winning competitions as both cellist and pianist in Germany, Spain, the USA, and Korea. His many solo and chamber recordings, including world premieres on labels such as Deutsche Grammophon and Naxos, earned an Opus Klassik in 2019. As a soloist he has performed with major orchestras in Europe, China, Africa, and the USA, and appears regularly at international festivals. He directs the Sommerakademie Neuburg and the Art Conquers Borders Academy, touring widely as a musical ambassador. His interdisciplinary work spans global education projects, guest professorships, and conducting. Since 2019 he has served as Distinguished Professor of Cello at the China Conservatory of Music and sits on juries of major competitions.
