The Miró Quartet’s Hearth is a heartfelt holiday album celebrating connection, memory, and joy across diverse traditions. Featuring works by composers including Anna Clyne, Clarice Assad, Gabriel Kahane, Reena Esmail, and Paola Prestini, each piece reimagines a holiday tune with personal meaning. The program spans Renaissance hymns, familiar carols like Jingle Bells, West African rhythms, and lyrical string writing, creating a warm, reflective, and vibrant musical experience that honors the spirit of the season and the richness of communal celebration.
The Miró Quartet, formed in 1995 and based in Austin, TX, is one of America’s most celebrated string quartets, praised for its tonal focus, interpretive intensity, and commitment to connecting with audiences. GRAMMY®-nominated and winner of major competitions including Banff and Naumburg, the ensemble has performed worldwide, released acclaimed recordings, and created multimedia projects like the Emmy-winning Transcendence. Their repertoire spans classical masterpieces, new commissions, and collaborations with composers and performers such as Kevin Puts, Caroline Shaw, Gabriel Kahane, and Conspirare. Deeply dedicated to education, they serve as quartet-in-residence at the University of Texas at Austin, carrying forward a legacy inspired by the creativity of Joan Miró.
