French soprano Julie Fuchs’ fourth solo album, Je Te Veux, celebrates Erik Satie and the Belle Époque through songs and melodies by Satie and his contemporaries. With original arrangements for piano, accordion, violin, and double bass, Fuchs revives the spirit of cabaret, joined by Alphonse Cemin, Félicien Brut, Alexis Cardenas, Davide Vittone, and guest singers Levy Sekgapane and Florent Baffi. The program blends cabaret songs, opera arias, waltzes, and impressionistic melodies by composers including Debussy, Chabrier, Poulenc, and Chaminade. Fuchs conceived the album as a tribute to freedom, creativity, and Parisian bohemian life, highlighting humor, melancholy, and the modernity of this rich, often-forgotten repertoire.
Julie Fuchs (b. 1984) is renowned for her versatility, spanning Baroque to contemporary repertoire with a focus on Mozart and Bel Canto heroines. A graduate of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris, she is a three-time Victoires de la Musique winner and Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters. In 2024–2025, she returns to the Paris Opera as Marie in La Fille du Régiment, appears at Zurich Opera House, Bavarian State Opera, La Scala, and Gran Teatre del Liceu, and performs recitals and concerts across Europe. A Sony Classics exclusive artist, her discography includes solo albums Amadè, Yes!, and Mademoiselle, plus recordings of Mahler, Debussy, Poulenc, and operatic roles with Deutsche Grammophon, Pentatone, Atma, and Warner Classics.
