International pianist Ivana Gavrić presents her new album Throwback to Dance, a solo piano recital spanning Baroque to Belle Époque music. Praised as “electrifying” (BBC Music Magazine) and “ravishing” (Washington Post), Gavrić explores how composers transform dance forms—courtly, folk, and waltzes—into fresh musical expressions. The programme features Grieg’s Holberg Suite and Norwegian Dances, a new Dance Suite by Cheryl Frances-Hoad, and works by Couperin, Chaminade, Pejačević, and Ravel, marking his 150th anniversary. Through her signature storytelling and expressive playing, Gavrić illuminates the enduring charm and inventive spirit of dance-inspired repertoire across centuries.

Ivana Gavrić, born in Sarajevo and raised in the UK, studied at the University of Cambridge and the Royal College of Music. Known for her affinity with composers like Janáček, Grieg, and Chopin, she collaborates closely with contemporary composer Cheryl Frances-Hoad, including the concerto Between the Skies, the River and the Hills. Gavrić performs internationally as a soloist and recitalist, appearing with orchestras such as the Philharmonia, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, and Royal Philharmonic, and at venues including Wigmore Hall and KKL Lucerne. A dedicated chamber musician, she partners with artists like Maxim Vengerov and Tim Horton. Her recordings, including In the Mists and Grieg: Piano Works, have earned BBC Music Magazine and Gramophone acclaim.
