Pipers 3 bring their considerable virtuosity to two unusual and exotic pieces. Alasdair Nicolson's The Tempest Suite began as incidental music to Shakespeare's play; David Knotts' Tsirana takes as its starting point the sound of the Armenian dukduk.

Pipers 3 is a distinguished oboe trio recognized as one of Europe’s leading chamber ensembles of its kind. Their recording Intercession is widely regarded as a landmark in the oboe trio repertoire. Founded in 1990 with oboist Julian West, the group has focused on expanding the expressive and technical possibilities of the ensemble through commissions, premieres, and innovative performance approaches. While grounded in the oboe trio’s eighteenth-century Viennese origins, Pipers 3 combines classical foundations with contemporary influences. The ensemble has received numerous prestigious awards and has broadcast extensively on major British radio networks.
